We live in the present that was bounded to the memoir of the past. It is like a living reflection of our before. We will tell you the relevance of the long-ago to the now-a-days.
Our ancestors lived in a colony ruled by an advancing European state that clings tenaciously on our land, an epoch when justice is overshadowed by malignity. We are ruled by Spain, a power that robbed the people of their very rights. It was a time when justice was altered in favor of the Spaniards.
We also live in a colony – but, did we really have sovereignty? Our government is a like a living puppet of the United States. A manifestation of this is the custody battle of the Subic Bay rape case. The government had tolerated the US to trample over our laws when US authorities pressed the arrest. We condemn the government’s slow action regarding the case. Our sovereignty here is at sake. If this (the rape incident) happened in the United Stated, would they tolerate this? – guess not! They have violated our laws then the government must and should enforce the rule of law no matter who gets hurt.
Our ancestors were ruled by a harsh and corrupt colonial government. It was when governor-generals and his allies receives share from the tobacco industry and galleon trade. It was a time when land grabbing was the fad of the town to augment the bounties of the authorities.
We are also ruled by a corrupt government. Today is the time when Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo and Ignacio Arroyo, the President’s son and brother-in-law, respectively, received jueteng proceeds. President Arroyo is involved in the fertilizer scam. BIR Chief Commissioner Bunag is filed with graft cases. We are ruled by authorities who augment their bounties by getting money from PAGCOR. Government officials are chosen by the people to serve the common good but it seems that they are just serving their own good. Most politicians will die before the total impact of corruption could be realized but most voters will still be alive. Voters must be vigilant. Further, a lifestyle check must be conducted annually among officials.
Our ancestors were ruled by tyrants, a period when there is an eclipse of democracy. To attempt to oust that rule is to face the pain of death. To question the illegitimacy of that rule is to face death. To be a threat to the government is to face death.
Like them, we live in a land ruled by tyrants, a period when there is an eclipse of democracy. To attempt to oust that role is to face water cannoning and harsh dispersal. To question the illegitimacy of that rule is to face criminal government’s blatant disrespect of the people’s constitutional rights. The government is instituted for the people, by the people and of the people; therefore they must serve the interest of the people.
These are the most severe ailment of our nation – no wonder – it had also occurred in the past. The remedy is simple, no need of introducing new forms of government. First, we need a competent leader, not a cheater, a leader that could best serve the interest of the people. Second, are loyal and honest officials not a Sen. Miriam Santiago nor Sen. Franklin Drilon owing alliance to Gloria today and Erap the next. That’s the proper synchrony and surely we’ll wake up one day that our government is no longer a puppet, harsh and corrupt.

Nice Gift!

Our professor in comm2 is giving us a headache. Making a blogsite and posting some compositions are definitely ruining our Christmas vacation. We're supposed to write some essays and post them in the internet. Don't you think it's an absurd idea, writing an essay during your vacation while other are having fun together with their family and friends?
What does a blog mean, anyway? (Haha...as if I care!)Blogs are said to be the way of exposing your ideas and talents in writing to the whole world. By posting your compositions in the internet makes it accessible to the world. Others say that it is a good way of communicating to other people regarding your opinions on certain topics and extending yourself to other nations.
Well, for me, blog is just a way of showing off. Yes, you can say whatever you want. But does that include others that are not capable of expressing their ideas through words? Others may find it very hard to say whatever they want to say through writing. Can't they take it into consideration that not all of us are given the talent to write. Just like me, I think it's hard to find the words that would fit to describe what's on my mind. That is just one of the many reasons why others like me are having a hard time writing.
Ok. So that's it! I dont like writing. That is why I dont want this assignment because i cant write any essays that are worth reading. Another is that I cant contact my other groupmates. How can we see each other when i'm supposed to go home to Borongan this coming thursday and others are also going to their respective places? Sir really gave us a very good Christmas gift. Making our Christmas vacation a very good one!
